The other day I was helping a woman prepare her taxes. I noticed that her birthday was that day so I congratulated her on it. During the exchange she revealed something that is a little unusual.
"I tell all my friends that I'm a year older than I am," she said. "After a while I start to believe it. That's my gift to myself that I'm a year younger than I think."
I thought this was unusual as most people tend to pull down their age in conversation. It's also a good reminder that our age is mostly a matter of perception.
